About us
Who we are
Neighbours Together, Building Better Futures
Sakhelene Sisonke Charity supports vulnerable young people in Zimbabwe, particularly children who are orphaned, disabled, or facing social and economic hardship. We provide practical support, guidance, and programmes that help young people build the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to become independent and responsible members of society.
Our work began in 1998 when we supported two orphaned children who had no means of accessing education. Through consistent care and support, both children were able to attend school, and we are proud that one has gone on to qualify as a pilot. This journey reflects the life-changing impact that opportunity and support can bring.
Our approach
Our Mission
Our mission is to restore hope and dignity to vulnerable children by providing practical support and long-term, sustainable opportunities that enable them to build better futures. We are committed to developing permanent solutions that address the root causes of poverty and exclusion, rather than temporary relief.
Through a personal, community-based approach, we work closely with families and local networks to ensure support reaches those most in need. Our aim is not only to keep children in education, but to nurture their potential, build character, and equip them with the skills and values needed to become confident, responsible, and capable future leaders.
Our Vision
A Zimbabwe where every orphaned and vulnerable child has access to the basic needs, opportunities, and relationships they need to grow, learn, and build a future of their own.
We are working towards a day when no child in Zimbabwe is defined by their circumstances, and where community, compassion, and consistent support create a generation that thrives, not just survives.
- Raising and nurturing tomorrow’s future leaders
- Developing permanent, sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by vulnerable children
